When my children were growing up and there was need to give them correction, I often said after I explained the problem, “Now you can learn this the easy way or the hard way it doesn’t make a lot of difference to me.” Isn’t that the way it is with the Lord when He finds need to correct us? There seems to be only one reason that the Lord allows or sends affliction our way; to cause us to […]

WHAT IS LIFE—John 14:6

Webster defines life as “the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body”.  Now we really can’t hold it against Webster but what kind of definition is that?  Surely there is a missing protein or enzyme or something that you can put your finger on that makes the difference between living and dead.  But, the fact is that science cannot completely say what the difference is and further cannot add something to a dead body […]

“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask.”

It is interesting that not one of of the disciples with the possible exception of Mary of Bethany ever asked for an infilling of the Holy spirit prior to the resurrection. Mary alone seemed to understand and was aware of Christ’s repeated declaration concerning His own death and resurrection. In those […]

BURNING FIRE—Jeremiah 20:5

Jeremiah was one of the greatest prophets of the Old Testament. Although he was faithful in proclaiming the truth to the people and constantly warned them of the impending judgement of God he saw almost no results, yet he continued to proclaim the truth his entire life. In chapter 20 he, like all of us, has a down moment and is discouraged to the point that he says he will not speak any more in His(God’s) name. That weak […]

THE FALL—Genesis 3

Life as we know it and the problems for all of mankind started with Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. And it would seem that the depth and depravity of this event has to a large measure escaped us, at least to any measurable degree. In a moment of time, man who had been created prefect and in the tripartite image of God lost all sight of his need for, dependence upon, and desire toward God. All […]

Do we who call ourselves Christians, really believe? I’m not talking about the fact that Jesus is the son of God and died on the cross for our sins, even Satan, himself, believes that and it won’t save him. I’m talking about all the things Jesus said and taught while He was on earth. For example, do we believe that “Whatsoever things ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” Mark 11;24, […]

HE HEARETH US—I John 5:14-15

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us;
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”
I John 5;14-15

“Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry not prayer for them, neither make intercession to me; for I will not hear thee.” Jer. 7;16

Many, many people have asked why […]

On numerous occasions we have heard various ones express the desire and even pray for more faith. That’s a noble request… but it is not necessary because the Lord has already told us precisely how to obtain more faith. Perhaps some would like a shortcut and not have to do all that is required in order to get that faith. Very simply put;

“Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” The faith that so many desire […]

To talk of “better” Christians is to use language foreign to many persons. To them all Christians are alike; all have been justified and forgiven and are the children of God, so to make comparisons between them is to suggest division and bigotry and any number of horrible things.

What is forgotten is that a Christian is a born-one, an embodiment of growing life, and as such may be retarded, stunted, undernourished or injured very much as any other organism. […]

I once met a young lady who had experienced severe affliction for many years. She was a part of a Christian church but for all that time their position was and she was told by the ministers that that is what the Lord has for her and she must learn to endure whatever He sends. Then one day she met a older, very devout, lady who after learning the situation simply asked, “Why don’t you pray and ask the […]
