Christians all over the world are celebrating the birth of Christ. It is an event that is most precious to believers for His coming changed the course of history like no other event since the beginning of creation. The story of the birth of Jesus will be read in many homes this day to the delight of children and adults alike. But have you ever thought what it would be like if He had not come?

There would be no New Testament; the last book of the Bible would be Malachi and we would all be living under the bondage of the law. There would be no salvation (John 3:3). There would be no promise of eternal life (John 14:6). There would be no true freedom (John 8:32). There would be no joy (Matthew 25:21). There would be no peace (John 14:27). We would have no comforter (John 15:26). The Holy Spirit would not be our guide (Acts 2:4). We would have no teacher or interpreter of the Word (Luke 12:12). Mercy would not be available to those who trust Him (Matthew 5:7). There would be no grace (John 1:17). Man could never know truth (John 14:6). In short, Man would have no hope (Romans 8:24) and no abundant life (John 10:10) and, perhaps, no life at all which comes from the Word, Jesus, Himself (John 14:6).

When you consider that Jesus is the only spiritual leader in all of history that rose from the dead and lives today, and that time itself is counted from His time on earth, that He speaks to and blesses His followers, gives peace, joy and hope of eternity ~ how could one not put His faith in Him? Where else could we go?

Joy to the world! The Lord is come.
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heav’n and nature sing . . . (Joy to the World)
