Time after time in Scripture and throughout history the Lord has done miraculous things ACCORDING TO OUR FAITH. There are literally hundreds of accounts in the bible and in the writings of many saints of God doing the impossible. When we finally get the picture of how willing and powerful He is, it would almost appear that He prefers to do the things that would seem out of human reach. Why then, is it so difficult for us to truly believe? Well, it seems that man’s human nature is to say one thing with his mouth and do the complete opposite and not even recognize the difference. It is so easy for the nominal Christian to say “I believe” in this or that while doubting that He will perform on our behalf. All through Scripture there is evidence that God does not act when man lacks faith. God demonstrated many, many times to the children of Israel (through Moses) by miraculous wonders and yet they soon forgot and began to complain. As we read about those accounts we say they were so week and childish. But then we do exactly the same thing.

Do we really believe that God can “redeem the time” or “repay you for the years the locusts have eaten”? Do we believe that He can heal our bodies, make our finances go further than is mathematically possible or change a heart? One follower’s honest response to the Lord when He ask him if he believed was, “I believe, Lord, help thou my unbelief”.(Matthew 9)

Our Lord made a very alarming statement before He left this earth, “Will I find faith when I return?” Can we be a real and true Christian if we don’t believe every promise he made? How do we measure up and do we really believe?

Faith is a living pow’r from heaven,
Which grasps the promise God has giv’n;
Securely fixed on Christ alone,
A trust that cannot be o’er-thrown.

Such faith in us, O God, impart,
And to our prayers Thy favor grant,
In Jesus Christ, Thy saving Son,
Who was our fount of health alone…(Faith is a Living Power from Heaven)
