I once met a young lady who had experienced severe affliction for many years. She was a part of a Christian church but for all that time their position was and she was told by the ministers that that is what the Lord has for her and she must learn to endure whatever He sends. Then one day she met a older, very devout, lady who after learning the situation simply asked, “Why don’t you pray and ask the Lord to deliver you from this situation? He is a god of deliverance.” It aroused hope in the young lady and she began to pray that the Lord would intervene in her life, something she had never done before.

One day as she searched the Scriptures the Lord gave her as verse in Nahum. “Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee not mere.” She knew at that moment that those words were for her and it wasn’t long until she was completely delivered.

We sing a song “What a friend we have in Jesus” but do we really embrace or even believe the words?

What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
