Have you ever wondered why there seems to be very few demonstrations of the power of God in our day and time? In the book of Hebrews, Paul reminds us of the things the Lord did on the basis of faith. “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets; Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stepped the mouths of liens, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.” So many times during Jesus’s ministry He told those He healed that “Your faith has made you whole”.

We are not talking here about a faith that just professes with the mouth “I believe!” We are talking about a faith that comes from the depth of the soul; a faith that has utter confidence, peace and rest in the fact that the Lord heard and will deliver. A faith that relishes the wait that it may take, never falters or complains or even considers the difficulties of the moment. This is faith as demonstrated by Abraham, Moses, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph and many others.

The religious leaders at the time of Christ on earth lacked spiritual power because their faith was in their forefather Abraham, the church and its doctrine. Jesus and the apostles, on the other hand, had faith in the living God. Today, not much has changed. There is much talk about faith, monumental churches and books written by the thousands but the lack of evidence speaks for itself. The truth is that, “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God”. (Romans 10:17)

Faith is the victory!
Faith is the victory!
Oh, glorious victory,
That overcomes the world. (Faith is the Victory)
