“All things, whatsoever, ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” In just a single verse or even one word of Scripture, the power of the Gospel is evident to those who believe. We are reminded continually that God desires to give his children good gifts. “If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” (John 14: 14) Two words stand out, whatsoever and anything. There is no limit to the power of God to give whatsoever and anything we ask if we are true believers.

Last week my wife and I visited our son and his young family who live about an hour away. When we arrived my four year old grandson, Junior, was trying to explain to me that he wanted a ‘car that ran by itself’. I wasn’t sure what he meant but his dad explained that he wanted a remote control car. After obtaining permission from his father, little Junior and I went to the store, as I said that I would get him a car. He believed, without any doubt, that his grandpa would do what he promised and I would not, could not, ever break that trust. In fact, I am not sure who was more excited, Junior or I… He picked out the one he wanted and we proceeded to the check out stand. He was beaming from ear to ear and his little legs were moving like he was running in place he was so excited. I paid for the car separate, gave him his own little bag with the receipt in it: he wanted to just hold it. On the way out he thanked me twice and gave me a big hug. I cannot express in words how much I love that child and how much I look forward to and enjoy giving him good gifts. Dare we think less of our Heavenly Father’s love, who gave His life for us?

Is there something in your life that is needed either for yourself or a loved one that would fit into the will of God. Pray, believe and wait! He loves you more than words can express and promises to answer in His time.

Prayer is the sublimest form of speech
That infants lips can try;
Prayer, the sublimest strains that reach
The Majesty on high. (Prayer is the Soul’s Sincere Desire)
