When I first began my search in earnest, I asked the Lord if He would just speak to me once; I would be completely satisfied. Well, it happened one winter night in Minnesota. I was reading the Bible, meditating and praying and the Lord gave me a mental picture of the sovereignty of God which has never left me. But, I then realized that I had not told Him the truth for it only drove me to desire more communication with Him. I remember concluding after that that hearing from the Lord needed to occur 2 to 3 times a week; surely that was all we could expect! Now, however, after all these years I know that He speaks to us continually, but only to the degree that we are able to be alone, still, quite and remove all noise around us. That is difficult, for some of that noise we, ourselves, make and often we cannot keep from thinking about business, social things and the list goes on and on.

Spiritual vision can come in a variety of ways and degrees. It can come in a miraculous way as it did with Peter and other disciples or it can come in a subtle knowing in your heart that the Lord wants you to pray a certain prayer or visit a certain someone or make a small contribution. BUT ONE THING IS ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”. (Prov. 29;18) If there is no true vision (from above) in the political system, the educational system, the social system, we as a nation will decline and die. And when this happens those few who have held on to the TRUTH will be persecuted as hate mongers, fanatics, infidels, heretics and worse. There are some that claim that education is the answer, others claim that democracy is a safeguard against decline, and there are even some that think we are making progress toward peace and tolerance for everyone. Nothing could be further from the truth! The only salvation for our nation is to “humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,and will heal their land.” (!! Cron. 7;14)

We must have ‘spiritual vision’ as an individual for salvation and as a nation to survive.

While contending and with standing
For the truth and right;
Draw us neared, show us cleared,
Lord, Thy Spirit’s might;

Let the Word it’s strength impart
to each sad and yearning heart;
Praise abounding shall be sounding,
At Thy throne of light. (Striving Onward, Pressing Forward)
