Several years ago I met a man who later become a business associate of mine.  We soon discovered that we both were Christians and had much in common.  We had occasion to meet often on business and I recall that one of those times he greeted me by saying, “Brother, what has the Lord told you this week?”…  Well, I was taken by surprise and hardly knew what to say.  As I recall I stuttered a bit and then said something like,”I’m not sure.”   He greeted me the same way on a number of occasions and it began to cause me to ponder.  I claimed to be a Christian but a Christian is supposed to be led by the Lord.   And yet, I did not have an answer to his question.  It bothered me to the point that I began to search the scriptures to find out what might be wrong with me.  It didn’t take long!  I read that, “God is spirit” (John 4:12) and “they that worship him must worship him in spirit” (John 4:24) and we are to “walk in the spirit” (Gal. 5:16). and  finally, “as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” (Rom.8:14).

It caused me to become much more serious about my relationship with the Lord.  I spent many hours searching the word  and a most remarkable thing happened.  I began to know what He was saying to me; not all at once but ‘little by little, line by line’.  I could plainly see  that I had been just giving lip service to the Christian life and very likely was even not a child of God.  Romans 8:14 implies that if you are not led by the Spirit you are not a son of God.  The seriousness of our responsibility as Christians became firmly implanted in my mind and propelled me to press on and know more about what He would have me to do.   Now it is imperative that I hear from him each day for the courage, peace and joy that results.

“My sheep know my voice, and I know them and they follow me.”   John 10:27

Walk daily with your Saviour,
And doubt will disappear;
You cannot be in darkness,
While He, the light, is near…(Walk Daily with Your Saviour)
